Little Updates

I am trying to stay in the habit of writing here. So here are a few updates.

I started the Korean class with my three coworkers. Its a class of five people, so we have a lot of fun and I am really excited to learn new things. Turns out the hardest part so far is definitely getting all the sounds right... they are not what I am used to, but they are within reach. We learned some of the basics, What is your name? How old are you? and are you from Korea? (apparently where are you from is much to long and complicated for first timers) We also started learning the alphabet, which I had studied a bit. It is a lot of fun and it starts at 10 am, so my days are going to be a bit better utilized for things other than sleeping. The weather is fantastically warm and pretty to look at from my air conditioned work.

The buses are becoming easier and I feel comfortable stepping into the road and making my way to the door a stop early to ensure that I get off in time. They do not give change if you have a five, but they will take a little under the 1200 won if you look confused and don't have anything but a five.

I have gotten completely used to smelling garbage at random points in my walks outside. Its really weird to smell rotting fish, or some other things, and not really grimace, just accept that it happens.

I have tried a few new restaurants as my understanding of the different options gets better and better. I am in the process of comparing Bi Bim Bap at each place I try. Its amazing how full I can become off of bean sprouts, rice, and a few other veggies...

The weekend was pretty crazy. We went to Norebang (Karaoke) on Friday night with coworkers and Saturday night for a going away party... Norebang = Soju + Late Nights (or early mornings, depenging...) + Sleeping until night time. I am going to bed early and drinking lots of water the week to make up for it. Hopefully on Friday I will be going hiking before work.

Work has been good, but the semester is wrappign up and the material is lacking... I adapted flashcard games for the kids this week, which seems to be working well.

Thats about all the notes fit to print right now. This weekend my goal is to go to the market with Tim so he can take pictures :) Lots of watermelons and vegetables are crowding the market stalls and I want to share them with you!!

Bi Bim Bap is the coolest dish ever, if only because it's so fun to say! XD
